Frosty Movie Night

My favorite part of this whole Elf on Shelf thing is when Conductor clues Noah into an activity we planned. This has been my favorite full circle day.

Day 13 started with a gift from Conductor, Frosty the Snowman and hot chocolate and marshmallow! I basically bribed Noah into napping, and pretty much everything else this day, by saying, "You better... or we won't watch Frosty after dinner!"

Noah has never had hot chocolate or chocolate milk before.
blurry photo because he could not stand still
What do you know, he liked it.
blurry photo because he could not stand still
Ready for the movie!
And the day ended with all of us in matching snowman PJs.
PJs' are from The Children's Place. If buying for a man, buy a size larger than suggested.

Tailgating Argyle Style- UNC football

This might be the most harried photo/post ever.  But when I read Melissa's post today over at I Pick Pretty I had to fit time in to link up to What to Wear: Tailgate Edition.  (By the way- love that the ACC is represented in your link up!)

This is the first time in 5 or 6 years that we did not get season tickets to the UNC football games.  We'll still be at a few games but it's a little sad not to be there 6 or 7 Saturdays this fall. It's also a nice to have some of the time back at home.  Our reasoning was that Noah is now 2, so we either pay $50 for 7 Saturdays for him to have a seat or pay off our babysitter's college loans while she watches him for 7 Saturdays.  We just decided to revisit the situation next year and take a year off.  But since I am usually spending 6 or 7 Saturdays in Kenan Stadium at THE University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill I do have a tailgate wardrobe.

In Kenan if you are alumni you dress up. If you are a fan you dress more casually.  Or that's how I see it anyways.  I'm an alumni; the Editor is ... well more than a fan but not an alum.  Let's face it, Argyle is the color of UNC, we are a preppy bunch of people!  If I could I pull off argyle head to toe... well let's just say I'd try it.

The temperature ranges from 100+ to colder (45-50?) and of course, it could be raining.  Here's a few looks I pulled on tonight that I do wear to football games depending on if it's a day game in September or a night game in October/November.
I tried to smile in these photos, but I did not steam my dresses/skirt so I look messy!  And I'd be wearing my Rainbows in the barefoot photos.

November 26, 2011.  UNC vs Duke
Wearing the black sweater dress and boots from above with a Carolina Blue scarf from India
(my brother actually brought it back from India)

And Homecoming 2011.  I usually dress down a little bit for Homecoming.  Whenever jello-shots are involved it's better to have jeans on.  Plus it was rainy and cold!  So I'm wearing a Victoria's Secret UNC jersey from their campus collection.  UNC quickly pulled their logo from VS pretty much right after I got it from the Editor years ago.  My accessory- argyle logo cornhole boards hand painted for me by a friend a couple of years ago.  I have never seen boards better looking than these (tho I might be biased).

Dress, tank top, skirt, white sweater dress- all from Banana Republic
Black sweater dress- Target
Necklace- Anthropologie
Earrings- Bridier Baubles
Boots- I think they are Steve Madden but I can't remember and I'm too lazy too go upstairs and check.
My next game, and first game of the 2012 season, will be on October 6th against Virginia Tech.  It's a 12:30pm game and it's a White Out (all UNC fans are to wear white).  We'll see what the weather brings before I decide what white with Carolina Blue accent I decide on.

Fashion Friday- Help Me Decide

If you've been reading recently, you know that my cousin, who is like a sister to me, got tickets to Live! with Kelly (and co-host to be decided Tuesday) and invited me to come along.  I leave on Wednesday and we will see the show on Thursday.  I'm getting really excited but cannot figure out what to wear.  And I know it doesn't really matter what I wear, I am not going to be on TV but still!

Fashion Friday- Help Me Decide! Vote in my poll or leave me a comment below letting me know which outfit below (shoes/jewelry can be switched around or suggest me something!) you like best.  Excuse the hair (we have been at Into The Mist at the Life & Science Museum) and the 'I'm going to kill you' look (Noah did not nap today).

Dumping May

I've been a little lazy with keeping up with the blog lately and I'm not even sure what is taking up my time.   So here is a Photo Dump of the whole month of May since I pretty much neglected Sandy Pages.

May 5- Just a day at the beach in Ocean Isle.  Noah stayed in this position for about four hours.  I got one of the worst sunburns I've had in a while from hoovering over him for just as long.

May 9- Healthy Moms PJ playdate at Brilliant Sky Toys.

May 13- Mother's Day.  Snack time at Foster's Market after our planned Duke Gardens picnic got rained out.

May 15- testing out a friend's wagon.  Noah loved it- 2nd birthday present perhaps...

May 16- We started the day with a little reading in bed with the gang.  Then a trip to play with the new turtle sandbox Noah got at my mom's house.  Most of the sand, along with the rock landscape ended up in the water ring around the sand, surprise!

May 18- Another campus bus trip. Someone looks like a student already with his gear on.  This time we hit up Sugarland's for some cupcakes and gelato (yes we had both and it was delicious). Then a run and rest in the quad.

May 19- Noah's ready to run with me.  He looks like a 70's or 80's workout video man.  Later that day we went to Duke Gardens and had a great Makeup Mothers Day picnic.

May 22- 6 Peonies for our 6th Wedding Anniversary. My wedding bouquet was pale pink peonies.

We started our anniversary off with a trip to Got To Be NC.  This was a little State Fair and so much fun!
They even had a tractor parade, which as a big hit though you can't tell by his face.

Yup, I'm wearing my wedding dress (hello padded bodice!) on the couch with my cathedral length veil and Tucker too. We went to see Wicked at the DPAC (excellent excellent excellent!) After relieving the babysitter I donned my dress and settled in to watch a little bit of the New Jersey Housewives.  I try my dress every year and it has never zipped all the way up since May 20, 2006 but I still rock it around the house.

May 22- Happy Birthday Dad!  A fun family hike at Duke Forest ended in tears because Noah did not want to leave the bridge we were hanging out at.  He cried the whole way back to the car.

May 25- Noah was such a trooper at the car dealership mostly because they had tracks and I brought trains.  He hung out through two hours and a test drive.  Then off to Fridays on the Front Porch at the Carolina Inn for dinner with friends.  A fun Friday until I got the loaner car stuck in the parking lot on campus... oops!  (And no, we did not get a new car.)

May 28- We hosted a Memorial Day staff BBQ for the Husband's co-workers; around 28 people and I actually did not stress this party!  Luckily we were able to bring in the main dishes, but I made White Chocolate Strawberry and Cream Cupcakes and Lemon Pound Cake with Lemon Drizzle.  AND! It came out of the bunt pan (If you remember THIS debacle).  I also made Rainbow Fruit Skewers but forgot to take a picture.

May 31- Posing in the back yard.  He now constantly goes up to this tree and asks for another photo.

And that was May...

Fashion Friday- OOTD X2

I'm linking up with LC at The Brunette Bride for another Fashion Friday Outfit Of The Day.

I have two outfits today and yes, I left the house in both of them.

#1: Running with the Husband (racking up my Joggermom Marathon miles) and a park playdate for Noah.  I included this because I wore this to a pre-planned playdate with a friend and I 'chose' to wear this.

  • old Gap racerback tank top
  • Champion by Target sports bra
  • Athelta running shorts
  • Asics running shoes
#2: From a naptime shower to the end of the day.

  • Banana Republic dress
  • Flirty Braided Rainbow sandals
  • Fingernails are Essie Sugar Daddy (3 coats and it's still really pale) and toes are still (tho re-painted) Ole Caliente

Fashion Friday Link up- OOTD

I'm linking up with LC at The Brunette Bride for Fashion Friday's Outfit Of The Day!

I feel like I need to explain ... err justify... my outfit a bit.  Noah has a fever and we are more than likely not leaving the house much today.  But honestly I do really like this look; it's very me for Spring/Summer.  But no, it's not glamorous.

(clearly I have issues taking pictures of myself)

Embarrassingly the whole outfit- shorts, t-shirt, and sweater are from Ann Taylor Loft.   I definitely won't be going in there today!
  • I love the neutral gray short and like this length for me.
  • The t-shirt is very soft and has an open neck, but not quite a V.  This is important because Noah likes to pull on my shirts making my V's belly button deep by days end.
  • And the sweater is from the sleep/swim section.  It is very me and while I wouldn't wear it to sleep in, I would definitely throw it over a bathing suit.  In this fantasy I have my pre-baby body and am also on a boat.
  • The flip flops are Flirty Braided Rainbows from Nordstrom.
  • Fingernails are Essie Navigate Her and toes are Ole Caliente

What are you wearing today?

Fashion Friday Favorites

I'm linking up with L.C. at The Brunette Bride for another Fashion Friday!

Even though I had a head start to figure out what is/are my favorite apparel items, I had a hard time figuring this out.  Clothing isn't emotional to me.  The Husband constantly asking, "But what about the memories?!" as I toss the sweater I wore when we got engaged into the donate pile.  He has shirts from the 5th grade and could probably give you What, When, and Why on his favorite article easily. My favorites change with every season, depending on my mood, the weather, how I feel about myself. And do I have to pick just one?  If so, this is it.

Banana Republic Boatneck Cashmere Argyle Sweater.
The Husband bought me this sweater for Christmas several years ago (2007?) and I love it.  If you know me, this sweater is very me.  I actually cried when the dry cleaners lost it (they found it!)

Here's my short list of things I consider my favorites because even though I've had them for years I still wear them every week.  Or, as it is with the handbags, I would use daily if I didn't have to carry a sippy cup.

Louis Vuitton Tivoli PM
Easily my biggest splurge.  I love this bag, because I better!  Nothing more classic to me than LV; this piece will last me my lifetime.  Purchased at the LV store in 2007 or '08.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Twisted Q Lil Riz
Birthday present to myself in 2009 at Saks on sale; I was there for a Kooba but the money spoke to me.  I love the color, shape, and feel (so soft) of this bag. Plus great for traveling- my Kindle (or a book) fits easily inside.

Steven by Steve Maden Intyce Boot
I've had these boots for years and bought them at the Nordstrom half yearly sale for $80.  They are seriously worn out in the toe now but these are the first 'tall' boots I've ever found to fit my wide calves.  Small wedge heel but I can chase a toddler in them; perfect color.  I will probably buy a 2nd pair soon to replace the ones I have.

BC Footwear Milkshake Wedge
These shoes are so old I can't find a picture of them on the vast internet.

They look like this but
are this color (maybe?) brown on brown
Another Nordstrom deal.  These wedges were $36 and were my first Nordstrom purchase ever.  I love a wedge heel and these shoes give your pants a nice long line.  The rounded toe also makes your feet look tiny.  All around great every day fall/winter shoe.

Finally a spring fav
Franco Sarto cork sole wedge
What's not to love about a kelly green, patent leather peep toe wedge?  I wear these shoes with jeans or dresses and they are just fun.  I've had them since 2008 (I think) and bought them from Piperlime.

I really enjoy spring and summer.  I don't have a favorite season, but I love the sun.  There are clothes I really like in the summer, but I replace my Rainbow flip flops, shorts, and $10 tank tops often.  Seems like winter clothes are investments: coats, boots, etc. They last much longer and cost more so they get my favorite nods.
